Africa

Africa is the second largest and second most populous continent on Earth, located mainly in the Eastern Hemisphere and bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, and the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to the west and east, respectively. It is composed of 54 recognized sovereign countries, each with its own distinct cultures, languages, and histories. Africa is known for its diverse geography, which includes deserts like the Sahara, rainforests in the Congo Basin, savannas, and mountain ranges such as the Atlas Mountains and Mount Kilimanjaro. The continent is rich in mineral resources and has a wide variety of plant and animal species. Africa’s population is characterized by immense ethnic and linguistic diversity, with thousands of distinct groups and languages. Additionally, Africa has a complex history, with ancient civilizations such as Egypt and Nubia, and more recent legacies of colonialism and struggle for independence. Today, it plays a significant role in global affairs and continues to experience economic growth and development challenges.
