Skiing

Skiing is a recreational and competitive sport that involves traveling over snow on skis, which are long, narrow strips of wood, plastic, or metal that are attached to a participant’s boots. Skiing can take various forms, the most common being alpine skiing, which is performed downhill on snow-covered slopes, and cross-country skiing, which involves moving across flat or rolling terrain. The sport can also include freestyle skiing, which incorporates tricks and aerial maneuvers, and ski jumping, where athletes launch off of ramps and perform in-air techniques before landing. Skiing is typically done in natural snow environments, such as mountains or ski resorts, and it requires a combination of balance, coordination, and physical fitness. It is enjoyed by people of all ages and skills, often associated with winter sports culture and outdoor recreation.
