Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in many countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to move and control the ball, although they can also use their heads and torsos; only the goalkeepers are allowed to handle the ball with their hands within the penalty area.

The sport is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with goalposts at either end. The game is divided into two halves, typically lasting 45 minutes each, with a break in between. Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Soccer is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with millions of players and fans. It has a significant cultural impact and is played at various levels, from local recreational leagues to professional competitions, including international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup.
